Detailed body of a Gibbon on the rope
This is a photograph of a Gibbon swinging on a rope. The detail in the silky fur as the sun hits itis simply amazing.
These monkeys live in tropical rain forests. They develop a special form of locomotion, know as brachiation: using their powerful arms, they swing their bodies in trees from branch to branch.
They live in family (a pair and 1 to 3 siblings), on a territory ranging from 20 to 40 ha. Guided by the female, the family moves around looking for fruits leaves, and insects.
Gibbons, communicate with long and powerful songs, which can be heard 20km around. They are used to protect the territory and to reinforce family links.
